As part of ONN’s commitment to ensure the ONCA works effectively for Ontario’s not-for-profit organizations that it will govern, last fall ONN requested a joint government-sector implementation committee be established. The Steering Committee has now been set and its first meeting held in January 2013.
A joint partnership between the Ministry of Consumer Services and ONN, this committee will identify transition needs of organizations, make recommendations on appropriate tools and resources to deliver on those needs, including potential investing, and establish a monitoring process of the transition to identify possible amendments, among other duties.
Government sector representatives include assistant deputy ministers from multiple ministries. Nonprofit sector representatives are Jennifer Holmes-Weier from YMCA- Ontario, Rob Black of the Rural Ontario Institute, Mario Calla of COSTI- Immigrant Services, Margarita Mendes from Nellies Women’s Shelter, Sport Alliance Ontario’s Holly Graham, and Pat Bradley of the Ontario Arts Council.
